The messages of discontent - letting them go.

Well here I am sitting in a castle in St. Ives Cornwall - it is actually a hotel. The snow is falling and there is possibility that I might get snowed in. So in times of desperation I have been talking to a bar man about advertising and messages of discontent... Admittedly he started the conversation... Well since this blog is about inspiration can we turn this around? Lets consider all the messages of discontent we receive a day - through adverts we can absorb anything from one hundred to two thousand in a day. Each message sources an insecurity that it can solve with a product. A specific product will help you be less flawed. How lucky that there is a solution for us...

So how do our minds cope? Well they filter the messages and in your subconscious a store house of discontent builds. Bear in mind that most messages are based on fear... So how long is it before we, the consumer, realises that the messages are simply meaningless? A product can not solve you or your problem. The fact is you are not flawed, you only believe you are flawed through making a comparison to a hyper-real image. An image which is modified with wrinkles erased and imperfections removed. So how is this inspiring I hear you ask?

Well once you know what is going on you can willingly choose not to respond. You can choose to accept yourself, to love yourself as you are... That in itself is liberating.

All those messages of discontent you can smile at and let go of knowing they are simply a superficial tool to enable money spend and consumerism. In response you could even reverse your thought response by affirmation - the more I see these messages the more I realise I am good enough... I don't need this or that to be good enough. I am perfect as I am...

Finally the messages of discontent are just noise you choose not to hear...
I hope that inspires you to realise that in this world you can willingly choose what you do and do not respond to...
